After 25 years of serving as university president, Dr. Carol Leary has announced her retirement from Bay Path University.

Dr. Leary plans to step down in June of 2020.

Under her leadership, Bay Path grew from a small, women’s undergraduate college, to a university that’s home to nearly 3,500 students.

“My husband Noel and I were embraced by the western Massachusetts community when we arrived here and we reflect with pride and gratitude on the many opportunities we have had to serve and give back to the region. We look forward to the next chapter in our lives, spending retirement in Maine and Florida, enjoying more time with family and friends, and immersing ourselves in the arts, theater and travel,” said Leary in a statement sent to 22News.

Dr. Leary became the school’s 5th president in 1994.
