A beautification project generated by Latino Ethnic Pride is planned for Holyoke’s Main Street business district.
Mayor Alex Morse disclosed that the state will put up $20,000 to help celebrate the cities Puerto Rican community.
The beautification of Main Street from I-391 to Lyman Street will be known as the Heart of Holyoke.
Colorful artwork and banners will be designed to encourage visitors to make the area a shopping and dining destination.
The city now has until May 19th to raise the matching $20,000 through crowdfunding.
The grassroots organization Nueva Esperanza is spearheading the campaign on the local level.
