During the days leading up to Memorial Day, flags are being placed at every veteran’s grave in western Massachusetts.
Students from Blessed Sacrament School, along with Barnes Air National Guard airmen and women flagged graves at Calvary Cemetery in Holyoke on Tuesday afternoon.
The 5th and 6th graders says have a deep appreciation for their mission.
“It’s important to remember people who died because they fought for our country and they fought for our freedom, so we can have a better life today,” Gracie Chesmore told 22News.
The students at Blessed Sacrament pledged to visit Calvary Cemetery every year before Memorial Day.
