Bob the bike man hosts fundraiser for “Pedal thru youth” program

Hampden County

We’ve gotten to know him as the man who rebuilds bicycles and gives them to kids in need.

Bob the Bike man is at it again. Bob is known for rebuilding and giving bicycles to children in need here in western Massachusetts.

He held a fundraiser on Sunday to raise money for his “Pedal Thru youth” program.

A program that partners with local charities and law enforcement to donate bikes to low-income or needy families.

Although Bob has rebuilt hundreds of bikes in the past, he told 22News his mission is far from over, “We put out over 600 bikes this year since this program started. This is just a way to keep it going because there’s alot of parts involved with the bikes, there’s moving and transportation costs with all of our trucks.”

Former State Representative Cheryl Coakley Rivera participated in a dunk tank. The event also featured a tug of war match between Springfield, Chicopee, Holyoke police and other first responders.

And, a special surprise at the event, Bob the bike man got married.
