Body of man last seen in river near Memorial Bridge in West Springfield found

The body of a man police believe ended up in the river after a car accident in West Springfield was found Saturday morning.  

According to the Massachusetts State Police, the man’s body was found in the Connecticut River by the State Police Dive Team.

Police said the car accident happened about 7 a.m. and the man had last seen in the water between the railway bridge and the Memorial Bridge.

The West Springfield Fire Department and the State Police Air Wing assisted the dive team in the search for the man. 

West Springfield police and troopers with the Hampden County DA’s Office are investigating the incident.
