Broken traffic light in Springfield may have contributed to crash near Alden St.

A broken traffic light at a busy intersection may have contributed to a collision in Springfield Tuesday afternoon.

A passenger car and a small SUV collided in front of 800 Roosevelt Avenue, near the intersection with Alden Street.

The accident happened just before 2 p.m.

No one was hurt, and police weren’t available to explain what caused the crash, but the traffic light at the intersection of Roosevelt Avenue and Alden Street has been out for more than a week.

22News has been receiving messages from drivers concerned about non-operational traffic light there.

We’ll continue to follow up on this story, and find out when the city plans to fix the broken traffic light.
