An event was held Monday for business owners to meet and interview potential employees at Holyoke Community College.
CareerPoint held a “Business Partner Meet and Greet” for its Youth Summer Jobs Campaign.
Business owners were invited to the event to meet teens and students looking for jobs this summer. They even had a chance to hire them.
A CareerPoint organizer told 22News how the program helps young people find work.
“We do intense training,” Gladis Lebron-Martinez said. “There, they learn a lot about the essentials that are needed so much today. They go out with a resume, they do mock interviews with the employer, the employer gets to screen the youth and they learn what it takes for you to work.”
One participant told 22News how the program helped him.
“The most impact I got from my experience was through first getting a job at an early age, then able to get other jobs,” Christian Rivera said.
CareerPoint expects to place over 150 youth in full-time or part time summer jobs this year through their summer employment program.
