Springfield Mayor Domenic Sarno announced Thursday that Carregan’s Lounge has agreed to shut down. The city’s mayor and police commissioner have called the lounge a “hotspot” for criminal activity.
According to an agreement signed by the city and the Carregan’s Lounge attorney, the lounge agreed to surrender its liquor license and entertainment license.
The agreement listed a series of police calls centered around the bar over the past year.
Mayor Domenic Sarno told 22News shutting down the lounge will make the neighborhood a safer place.
“The residents of the area and neighbor council are very very happy with that decision, the establishment seemed to be a magnet for negative activities,” Mayor Sarno said.
Mayor Sarno said there are no future plans in place for the property.
22News tried calling the manager of Carregan’s Lounge but we are still waiting to hear back.
