For 28 years, the Fairview Knights of Columbus Castle in Chicopee has been the Thanksgiving Day gathering place where many people go to enjoy a holiday dinner.
Nearly 600 turkey dinners were served to people who told 22News that the Castle is the only place they want to go for Thanksgiving dinner.
“The food is very good, and the people are very, very nice,” South Hadley resident Venita Redding explained. “We have very attractive conversations and it’s a nice place, especially when it’s very cold outside.”
Families have volunteered for years to serve Thanksgiving dinner at the castle. The organization also prepared 2,000 meals for people in several local communities.
The Knights of Columbus also provide a table filled with donated warm clothing for those in need.
