Ceremony honors two Springfield school committee members who passed away

Hampden County

An event Monday night in Springfield honored two late school committee members.

A dedication ceremony was held at Roger L. Putnam Vocational Technical Academy, in honor of Antonette Pepe and Michael Rodgers.

Rodgers and Pepe were both longstanding members on the school committee and dedicated large amounts of their time to Springfield Public Schools. Monday night, two plaques were installed in their honor, in areas of the school that they advocated for.

“This means the world to me,” said Rusell Pepe, Antonette Pepe’s husband. “The recognition she got was unbelievable.”

Many people spoke in Pepe and Rodgers’ honor; including Springfield Mayor Domenic Sarno.
