Chicopee mayoral candidate begins campaign

Hampden County

Chicopee mayoral candidate Joe Morrissette kicked-off his campaign Wednesday night in the city!

The Navy veteran and former Chicopee police officer of two decades celebrated the start of this campaign at the Knights of Columbus.

Morrissette told 22News he plans to focus on economic development, technology and making public safety stronger than it already is in the city if he wins the election.

He also said tonight’s large turnout to the kickoff event was possible because people heard the message of his campaign.

“People want this change, people want to move forward. that they’re tired of it just staying what it is. they’re ready to move forward in a big way,” Morrissette said.

Mayor Richard Kos announced he is not running for re-election this past February. Chicopee’s city election is November 5.
