The Chicopee Parks and Recreation Department is starting their spring cleaning.
Families with loved ones buried at the cities Fairview cemetery are being asked to remove grave decorations such as artificial flowers and ornaments by Monday, April 1.
Chicopee’s acting Parks and Recreation Superintendent Ben Strepka told 22News, “So we can go in with our own cleanup. clean up the leaves, start mowing the grass. Sometimes some of this can be dangerous for our workers. If there’s glass or plastic that got broken over the winter. Just so we can have a very presentable cemetery.”
With the clean up beginning Monday, Strepka is urging families to remove all items from the grave sites during the upcoming weekend.
