Chicopee police are reminding parents to talk to their children about the dangers of talking to strangers as detectives investigate reports of a man approaching kids on the street.
Chicopee Police Officer Mike Wilk told 22News they’ve received multiple reports of a man driving up to children in a red truck in the Willimansett neighborhood, asking if they would like candy and telling them they can get in his truck.
“We wanted to get this out to the community to alert parents to speak to their kids and let them know the dangers of speaking or going with strangers and also for them to be our eyes and ears,” Wilk said.
Anyone who sees something similar or suspicious is asked to try and get a good description of the truck and driver. Police should then be contacted right away at 413-594-1700.
“I would like to stress that this male person has only made comments and has not done anything physical,” Wilk said.
