CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – Chicopee residents grabbed a scoop of ice cream with Mayor Vieau Thursday afternoon at the Chicopee Public Library.

The event gave citizens an opportunity to connect with their elected officials, all while keeping cool on this hot day. 22News got a chance to speak to Mayor Vieau and he explained why these community events are so important.

Mayor Vieau said, “Well, I call Chicopee a city of over 55, 56,0000 people, the biggest small town in western Mass. because we love to come together in these types of events and socialize. So it’s nice to see this happening again. It’s been postponed too many times, now we’re back.”

The mayor also served ice cream at the event.
