The Chicopee Rotary Club is celebrating 50 years of service in their community.
The club gathered at the Castle of Knights in Chicopee to celebrate their anniversary, and to recognize this year’s recipients of the Paul Harris Fellowship.
This year’s recipients included Thomas Guertin, Owner of Ink Products corporation, and a former president of the club. Ernie Laflamme was also recognized Friday evening.
Laflamme served as the Chicopee city assessor for six years and city treasurer for 40 years. He’s also well known in the community for his service to his church, and for his work with the boy scouts.
Laflamme told 22News, “I spent 50 years at city hall, so that’s part of my home it truly is. We worked hard, we did. My wife and I, we did. I’ve been doing things all my life for people, and I’m glad. I’m very proud they’re recognizing me this evening, and I thank them for that.”
The Spear family-Tania, Greg, and their daughter Emalee were also recognized for their service to the community Friday evening.
