The Springfield Police C-3 Unit, got into the holiday spirit Saturday afternoon.
Hundreds of people gathered at the Holy Name Social Center in Springfield, for their annual Christmas Party.
The event included free food, music, and even a visit from Santa. Sgt. John Wadlegger told 22News, the party is meant to create a stronger bond between community members and the police.
“The kids get gifts. There’s a lot of interaction between the police and the community groups. Interaction between the parents and the police,” said Sgt. Wadlegger. “We’re just trying to bring the kids into a safe and secure environment for the holidays.”
Although the party was held in the Forest Park neighborhood, it was open to all residents of Springfield.
