Thousands of people in Holyoke are gathering Saturday for the 3rd annual Taste of South Holyoke celebration.
People from all over the city come to Cabot Street for music, food and for the opportunity to express their community pride.
“The people just want to feel connected regardless of race or creed or gender,” said event organizer Nelson Roman. “We just want to feel loved and united and that’s what the taste of Holyoke is all about.”
Holyoke resident Irean Feliciano-Sims added, “It means about community, having something to be powerful about to appreciate the love we have for each other.”
Organizers said they are confident the Taste of South Holyoke will have attracted at least five thousand visitors by the time the festival ends at 10 p.m. Saturday night.
