Construction equipment caught fire in Springfield

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Officials are investigating a fire that caused damage to construction equipment on Plainfield Street in Springfield Thursday afternoon. 

The Springfield Fire Department said crews were called to 255 Plainfield Street for a fire that appeared to have started in an engine compartment of construction equipment.  

The Arson and Bomb Squad is working to determine the cause.
