9 residents unable to return home after kitchen fire at Springfield apartment

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Nearly a dozen Springfield residents are being assisted by the local Red Cross following a kitchen fire at an apartment complex on Edmund Wynn Circle early Monday evening.

The Springfield Fire Department said crews were called to 52 Edmund Wynn Circle for the fire just before 5 p.m. Firefighters were able to quickly extinguish the fire and no injuries were reported.

A total of nine residents will have to find another place to live until their apartments are habitable.

The Springfield Arson and Bomb Squad determined the fire started in the kitchen.

The cause is still being investigated.
