SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Five people are without a home after a fire on Lexington Street in Springfield Thursday night.
According to Springfield Fire Captain Drew Piemonte, just before 11 p.m., a “second alarm” had been struck, and all companies were called to assist the fire on 284 Lexington Street. The fire was put out just before 1 a.m.

Five tenants are being assisted by the Red Cross and one firefighter was taken to the hospital and is expected to be okay.
No road closures were announced in the area.
