Dog killed in house fire on Memorial Drive in West Springfield

WEST SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Firefighters were able to extinguish a burning structure on Memorial Avenue, across the Big E, in West Springfield Thursday night.  

West Springfield Deputy Fire Chief Steve Manchino told 22News, crews were called to 1166 Memorial Ave at 6:45 p.m. for the fire. Two rooms of the three-family home were in flames when firefighters got there.

The store-front that’s attached to the home also sustained some damage.

No one was hurt, but a dog died in the burning house. The Red Cross is helping all occupants of the home find somewhere to stay.

Fire officials are working to determine the cause of the fire.
