Crews extinguish fire at Mayflower Road in Springfield

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Fire officials are investigating a fire that damaged the side of a home on Mayflower Road in Springfield early Friday evening.

The Springfield Fire Department said all companies were called to 106 Mayflower Road for the fire around 7 p.m. Crews were able to quickly extinguish the fire to prevent it from extending into the home and nearby structures.

No injuries were reported.

A video sent into our newsroom shows heavy fire burning near the side of the home. It destroyed a white fence and caused minor damage to the home.

The fire department’s arson and bomb squad is investigating the cause.
