SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – The pedestrian struck by a car on East Street in Springfield Thursday afternoon has died from her injuries.

The Hampden County District Attorney’s Office has identified the victim as 67-year-old Michele Barrows, of Springfield. She was working as a crossing guard at the time of the crash.

Springfield Police Department spokesman Ryan Walsh told 22News the driver of the car stopped and remained at the site of the crash.

The Springfield Police Department Traffic Unit is continuing to look into what led up to the deadly accident. No arrest has been made at this time.

This is the area’s second deadly pedestrian accident this week, after an elderly man was hit and killed on Route 116 near Mount Holyoke College in South Hadley Center Wednesday
