Daniel Stamborski sworn in as new Chicopee fire chief

Hampden County

Chicopee swore in a new fire chief Monday afternoon.

The newly appointed chief, Daniel Stamborski, was sworn in in front of family, friends, and dozens of current and former firefighters.

Stamborski is a Chicopee native and has worked for the department for more than two decades. He was appointed acting fire chief in March after the retirement of Chief Dean Desmarais.

“An honor to stand here and see this many people baking me. That’s the feeling that I’ve felt ever since I entered that office, just a great energy honored to be here,” said Chief Stamborski.

Chief Stamborski said modernizing the paperwork system and updating equipment will be priorities as he takes on the role as chief.
