A dinner was held Monday night to honor those who keep the Springfield community safe.
Hundreds attended “A Safe Neighborhood Appreciation Dinner” Monday night, put on by the Hampden County Sheriff’s Department.
The dinner honored those in The Safe Neighborhood Initiative — a program of neighbors looking after neighbors.
“I think it’s a great idea to communicate,” said Deborah Aloisi of Holyoke. “I think a lot of good info comes from the parents and the community that see the things going on and to be able to report that in an accurate way.”
The program includes 14 neighborhoods in Springfield and Holyoke.
