It’s been a few months since MassDOT announced that drivers have “full beneficial use” of I-91 through downtown Springfield, but drivers are still dealing with backups.
MassDOT said they’re currently working on paving exit ramps. You can expect to see crews on the highway for another six months, at least.
They’re expected to finish one of the last steps in the reconstruction project this fall. That’s when they’ll install street lights, paint the structural steel, and complete all final paving and traffic markings.
It won’t be until January of next year that you can expect to see construction crews completely off the highway.
