It may sound crazy but you shouldn’t kill spiders you find in your home.

Although many people are afraid of spiders, the majority of species aren’t threats to humans. Spiders are beneficial because they capture nuisances and disease-carrying pests like mosquitos.

When they are found indoors, they aren’t there to harm humans they actually prefer to avoid us.

“If they are in the house they are either looking for mates,” Technical Director of Braman Termite and Pest Elimination, Natasha Wright told 22News. “For example, if they are male spiders they are running around looking for females or otherwise they are just looking for a sheltered place to set up a web or look for food.”

Next time you see a spider in the house you can leave it there, or you can catch it and release it safely outside.
