Dollhouse at Holyoke nursing home draws local attention

Hampden County

A dollhouse that took forty years to complete has become quite the attraction at Mount St. Vincent Care Center in Holyoke.

Ninety-four-year-old Margaret Anderson began building the dollhouse in the 1970s, working on it whenever she could. The dollhouse was completed by the time she entered Mount St. Vincent Care Center in Holyoke.

People visit the senior care center just to see the dollhouse. Anderson says she’s shocked by its popularity.

“My goodness I was surprised, I had to bring it somewhere and I’ve been overwhelmed,” Anderson told 22News.

Anderson said her perfectly detailed dollhouse has a therapeutic effect on the other residents at the senior care center.
