Dozens of pets receive special blessing in Springfield’s Trinity United Methodist Church

Hampden County

Saturday was Trinity United Methodist Church’s 11th annual blessing of the animals services.

The event was free and anyone was welcome to bring their pets to the front lawn of the church, where the pastor offered a special blessing.

The church also invited founder of Kane’s Krusade, Kim George to speak.

“Any pet can come and be blessed,” George said. “It’s just really a beautiful day, and a great day to celebrate how important pets are to so many people.”

Kane’s Krusade is an organization that helps families struggling financially to keep their dogs.

Most people brought their cats and dogs, but the church has seen several different types of animals throughout the years including raccons, lizards, skunks, and squirrles.
