An eight-year Christmas season tradition at Agawam’s First Congregational Church is attracting renewed attention.

“Every year, we have the tree out. People contribute to it, to the needy and in need of hats and gloves stuff like that,” said Reverend Greg Dawson. “It’s open to everyone who’d like to contribute both within the church and outside.”

Reverend Dawson told 22News, last year’s donations to the mitten tree allowed the church to donate 56 hats, 38 gloves and mittens 30 scarves to where they were needed most.
