Driver cited for overloaded pickup pulled over for the second time

Hampden County

It happened again.

The driver who was cited by State Police in Springfield last week for this unsecured, overloaded pickup truck on I-91, was pulled over for the same issues Monday in Chicopee.

The same truck, but this time loaded with brush and debris.

You couldn’t see the tail lights or the license plate.

One West Springfield man said he just escaped a similar situation on Riverdale Street.

“There was a trailer in front of me with a car.  The hood was popping up and down,” said Dave Banas of West Springfield. “And just by the luck of the draw, I guess, I decided to move over to the left.  No sooner did I do that, the hood came off, and fortunately, I was in the other lane.”

Chicopee Police Officer Mike Wilk suggests if you see an unsafe load on a truck, to call police.
