Driver rescued after car drives into Holyoke canal

HOLYOKE, Mass. (WWLP) – The Holyoke Fire and Police Department was sent to Lyman and Main Street for a car that possibly drove into the canal Saturday morning.

According to the Holyoke Fire Department, at approximately 1:50 a.m. crews were told that a corvette had driven into the canal. The Holyoke Police were able to pull the driver out of the water.

According to Captain David Rex of the Holyoke Fire Department, the driver had the top down so he was able to get out of the water.

The driver was taken to the hospital for minor injuries and crews waited for Red’s Towing to recover the car.

Crews had to drain the canal in order to get the car out. There is no word on what caused the accident.
