A Holyoke furniture store has found a way to deal with the fact they can no longer use the lot next door to load their and unload their trucks.
Eddie’s Furniture delivery trucks have to find a new place to load their trucks.
Eddie’s Furniture has been around for more than 80 years in Holyoke. The family-run company has used this lot to unload their furniture, for years.
But that changed Monday after the new developers put a fence up. The lot is the future site of a Dunkin’ Donuts and other retail space.
“We can take our trucks out there and unload from them or wheel the stuff in with carts, you know dollys,” said Job Hicks of Eddie’s Furniture. “Or some trucks may be able to still get it in. Maybe, we’ll have to go to another property, an empty lot, and unload.”
Hicks told 22News he tried to buy the land, but the city wanted it developed. Hicks told 22News his business may actually benefit from the 1400 cars that are expected to visit the Dunkin Donuts every day.
The groundbreaking for the Dunkin’ Donuts is set to place soon.
