An African family resettling in Springfield received a warm welcome on Wednesday.
Fifth graders from the Northampton’s Lander-Grinspoon Academy helped prepare the apartment for the family of four from the Congo. They’ve come to western Massachusetts as part of the Jewish Family Service’s resettlement program.
“I hope this gets them excited to do service for the rest of their lives,” teacher Hilary Gollis told 22News. “And to help people in their community.”
The fifth graders spent hours preparing the apartment in Springfield’s Forest Park neighborhood for the refugee family.
