The West of the River Chamber of Commerce hosted their annual job fair this evening.
More than twenty employers from the area were at Storrowton Tavern and Carriage House Tuesday night, connecting with adults looking for employment, as well as students from Agawam and West Springfield high schools, and local college students.
Many of the companies came with information on their business, as well as applications, so visitors to the fair could apply on site. The chamber said they’re seeing a lot of people move to Boston or Hartford looking for work, and events like these are key to keeping talented workers in the Pioneer Valley.
Robin Wozniak, executive director of the West of the River Chamber of Commerce, told 22News, “Trying to keep everybody in western Mass. Trying to have the students and adults find employment here so they can settle down, raise families here. And keeping the jobs and business here, it’s important.”
Tuesday night’s fair ran from 3 p.m. until 6 p.m., to give students getting out of school and adults getting out of work the opportunity to stop by.
