Have you ever gone to an auto shop for an oil change, but was told you needed a lot of repairs done?
If you’re not sure whether the repairs are necessary, you can always get a second opinion or postpone the service.
Typically, when you go to an auto shop for an oil change, they’ll do a visual inspection of your car. After the inspection, they will report any issues they found with the car.
Mal Brothers Auto Company Manager Ed Malikowski suggests writing down their recommendations and getting a second opinion from a personal mechanic.
“You are not bound to have them repair,” Malikowski advised. “What is recommended is to have them write everything down and have your own mechanic if you have one, take care of the issue.”
Malikowksi told 22News if you just don’t have time for the shop to complete their recommended repairs that same day, you can always reschedule.
Malikowski also said an auto shop’s initial quote for brakes or major repairs, is typically cheaper than the actual cost of the service.
