LUDLOW, Mass. (WWLP) – Eversource has unveiled the first of its 19 universal solar sites that will be connected to the electric grid.
The new Ludlow solar facility on Chapin Street is now providing 2.1 megawatts of green energy through more than 5,000 ground-mounted solar panels.
Eversource spokesperson Priscilla Ress told 22News it’s enough energy to power 300 homes.
Eversource senior vice president Jim Hunt told 22News the commitment to these solar power generators is consistent with the needs of the future.
“Well certainly we’re committed to the state’s goal of reducing carbon emissions through projects like wind and solar and hydro power,” Hunt said.
Eversource has a goal to deliver 62 megawatts of solar power by year’s end.
