Families remember loved ones who lost their lives to violence

Hampden County

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) –  Loved ones that lost their lives to violence were honored in Springfield Wednesday night.

Baystate Health’s Family Advocacy Center held its annual Homicide Victims Remembrance event Wednesday evening.

Local residents gathered at the North Lawn at Springfield Museums to honor loved ones killed by homicide and vehicular homicide. One Chicopee resident told 22News the annual event helps bring awareness to the growing issue of violence within the community.

“Every year it just gets bigger and bigger, and more people come forward and want to memorialize their families that have been victimized by homicide,” Aimeelee Plasse said. “It’s just really nice to get together with people that know what you’re going through.”

Family members were able to share written memories about their lost loved ones and the names of victims were read aloud to honor their memory.
