A mom and her children will never forget the kindness of the Springfield police officers who helped her family in the aftermath of the fire that destroyed their home.

The fire on March 18 destroyed their home on Canterbury Road in the East Forest Park neighborhood. The family lost everything, but no one was hurt.

During the days that followed Springfield Police Sgt. Ron Sheehan organized a clothing donation drive.
The Police department received a thank you letter on Wednesday for the 26 bags of clothing, three boxes of diapers, and a check from the Springfield Patrolman’s Union.

In the letter, the Mother said in part: “my kids and myself are beyond grateful… you have since erased the pain a little bit with all the help.”
