Older Americans have never been at higher risk of falling for financial schemes.
That’s why the Polish National Credit Union held a Financial Elder Abuse workshop at RiverMills Senior Center in Chicopee.
The workshop covered financial schemes and fraud targeting the elderly, and what to do to prevent them, and protect against abuse.
Hampden County District Attorney Anthony Gulluni was there to advise seniors on ways to hold on to their hard-earned money.
“I’m here today to talk to this great group of seniors today to talk to them about how they can prevent fraud and recognize when something might be amiss and stay away from something where they might give up financial information or pass on money to someone posing as a relative or family member,” Gulluni told 22News.
Between three and five million seniors fall victim to financial abuse every year.
