LONGMEADOW, Mass. (WWLP) – Longmeadow firefighters are still on Magnolia Circle after a fire destroyed a home and closed a section of the street Thursday afternoon.

Crews were called to 64 Magnolia Circle where they found a house completely engulfed in flames around 2:50 p.m. Longmeadow Fire Chief John Dearborn told 22News the two people inside the home were able to get out safely.

Our 22News crews at the location could see heavy black smoke and flames coming from a home.

Magnolia Circle was closed while firefighters worked on the fire but has since partially reopened. Anyone who lives in that neighborhood can return to their home as the fire didn’t extend to nearby homes.

Chief Dearborn also said there was an issue getting water from the fire hydrants. The Water Department was called in to determine why.
