Firefighters in Springfield clear smoke from Republican building after small fire

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Firefighters had to clear smoke out of the Republican building early Wednesday morning after a small fire. 

According to Springfield Fire Spokesperson Dennis Leger, at 5:14 a.m. firefighters got to the building on 1860 Main Street to find an electric powered hand truck had caught fire while it was charging. 

No one was injured, and firefighters were able to use smoke ejection equipment to clear the building.
