Firefighters put out car fire in Springfield

SPRINGFIELD, Mass (WWLP) – The Springfield Fire Department was called to the area of 50 St. James Blvd for a car fire Wednesday afternoon.

Springfield Arson and Bomb Squad Commander Brian Tetreault told 22News, around 12:24 p.m. firefighters put out a car that was fully on fire.

Tetreault said the driver exited the vehicle without incident.

Springfield Arson and Bomb Squad determined the cause of the fire to be a mechanical malfunction.
