Springfield firefighters put out a fire on King Street Sunday morning that caused thousands of dollars worth of damage to two homes.
According to Springfield Fire Department Spokesperson Dennis Leger, firefighters were called to the 146 King Street at 10:15 a.m.
Leger said the fire was in the rear exterior of the building and spread into one apartment of the duplex.
The fire caused $20,000 worth of damage to the building. It also caused $5,000 worth of damage to the siding of 144 King Street from direct heat exposure.
Ledger told 22News residents are still able to live in their homes.
The fire is currently being investigated by the Springfield Arson and Bomb Squad.
