For candidates in 3rd Hampden District, schools are the priority

Hampden County

We’re just four days away from Election Day across the nation and in western Massachusetts.

One of the contested local races is in the 3rd Hampden District between State Rep. Nick Boldyga and challenger Forrest Bradford. The district includes Agawam, Southwick, and Granville.

Boldyga is running for his fifth term in office. Bradford grew up in Agawam and lived in California and Hawaii before returning to western Massachusetts.

22News spoke with both candidates about their priorities for the upcoming term.

“I’m pretty active when I deal with the school system and public works,” Bradford said. “I’m interested in all of these things, how they work and how we can make it better.”

“Our kids are going to go to public schools and they’re going to graduate from public schools, and we’re proud of that,” Rep. Boldyga said. “We’re focused on bringing more dollars for education, but also improving the overall education kids get not only in the district here but also through the Commonwealth.”

Southwick Town Hall was a location where early voting took place.

22News will be covering this race as well as many other political races across western Massachusetts on Election Day, November 6.
