Local law enforcement helped kick off Halloween weekend by giving out free candy to children in Springfield.
The Springfield Police Department’s Forest Park C3 Unit held their 5th annual “Trunk or Treat” event at the Holy Name Social Center Friday night. Hundreds of children showed up ready to show off their costumes and indulge in some Halloween treats.
Volunteer Gary Delisle told 22News, “It’s a great community event. It’s safe like the sergeant said. It’s nice to see these groups come together. Great cooperation from the Forest Park C3 Unity and the comissioner and his staff, the sheriff’s department, the district attorney’s office.”
The “Trunk or Treat” event was followed by a Halloween party featuring free pizza, face painting and a magician.
