Four cars damaged in Springfield parking lot fire

Hampden County

SPRINGFIELD, Mass (WWLP) – The Springfield Fire Department was called to a parking lot fire at 94 Union Street on Wednesday afternoon in which four cars were damaged.

Springfield Fire Department spokesman Dennis Leger told 22News they found a 2014 Dodge Avenger on fire around 1:00 p.m.

Leger said the fire had extended to a Dodge Ram pickup, and a Subaru Impreza. A VW Beetle was also slightly damaged.

The Springfield Arson and Bomb Squad determined the cause of the fire to be an electro-mechanical failure within the Dodge Avenger.

Leger said no injuries were reported.
