Four Longmeadow School Committee members resigned Wednesday morning.
Longmeadow Town Clerk Katherine Ingram identified the members as Beth Baron, Stephanie Jasmin, Melanie Rothstein, and Kerrin Morrin. All four voted against renewing Superintendent Marty O’Shea’s contract back in November– a decision that shocked many community members.
Longmeadow Town Manager Stephen Crane told 22News it’s still too early to say how their resignations will affect O’Shea’s contract situation.
“A new school committee certainly does have the option to take a new vote, but until we know what will constitute a governing school committee,” Crane said. “It’s too early to say what decisions they will make.”
Crane told 22News they contacted their attorneys to determine how to fill the four vacant school committee positions. They also want to find out if the three remaining school committee members could constitute a governing body.
Crane said they will continue to update the town on their process for filling those school committee positions in the coming weeks.
