Mendiola said the man who was struck by a piece of the roof was an employee and went to the hospital where he got stitches.

Columbia Gas was at the restaurant early Tuesday afternoon to make sure there were no leaks. The roofing company was also there.

Mendiola said he doesn’t want to just patch the roof, he wants to fix it completely for the safety of employees and customers.

“We don’t want any leaks, we don’t want to patch it up, we want to make sure we are safe for the public and for our employees,” Mendiola told 22News.

He hopes to reopen the restaurant Wednesday.
