A contest for fans at the Springfield Thunderbirds game all to support mental illness.
The Springfield Thunderbirds hosted the Providence Bruins at the Mass Mutual Center, and at the end of the game was a Chuck-a-Puck contest.
The winner got a cash prize and a portion of the proceeds from the sale of chances to win goes to The National Alliance on Mental Illness of Western Massachusetts.
NAMI is dedicated to helping improve the quality of life for individuals and families affected by mental illness.
Bernice Drumheller, a member of the organization told 22News, “we’re doing a fundraiser. Chuck a puck is a good fundraiser for NAMI and last year we did the 50/50 raffle.”
Researchers say 1 in 4 Americans will face a mental health problem every year.
